The MTV Movie Awards was a very successful event that showcased some of the biggest stars.  The ceremony was held at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California and was quite the show. The 23rd annual MTV Movie Awards was hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who opened the night with an impressive Mad Max: Fury Road tribute, and the show only got more exciting from there. Music guests consisted of Ariana Grande and Halsey who performed their newest hit songs.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens took the Movie of the Year award. Jennifer Lawrence's performance in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2 won the Best Hero award, the only woman nominated in the category. The Best Kiss award went to Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine for their scene in Pitch Perfect.
Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island performed a comedic musical tribute to Smith that included  the “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” theme song. This performance was a great throwback to lighten up the night.
Melissa McCarthy, whose new film “The Boss” opened number one at the box office last month, also received a special honor: the Comedic Genius award.
To close out the night, a big win went to Will Smith who received the MTV Generation award.
